MOUNTAIN VALLEYS RESOURCE CONSERVATION

AND DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL

 

 

 

 

Purpose:               Advisory to Land-of-Sky Regional Council; plans and promotes the orderly conservation and development of human, land, water, wildlife, forestry recreation and cultural resources in the area of Transylvania, Buncombe, Henderson and Madison Counties

 

 

Authority:              -  A provision of the Food & Agriculture Act of 1962, Public Law 87-703

                                 -  Bylaws of Mt. Valleys Resource Conservation & Development Council (1974)

                                

 

Membership:        17 member board: 3 members appointed by the Board of Commissioners from each of 4 counties and 1 member appointed by the Soil & Water Conservation District of each county, plus 1 member-at-large representing Land-of-Sky Regional Council.  Transylvania County currently has only 2 representatives on the council.  Members serve a 2-year term, no term limit; terms expire in December.  The chairman is appointed annually by the Mt. Valleys RC&D.
