RECREATION ADVISORY BOARD

Purpose: Advisory to the Board of Commissioners; establishes broad and long-range development plans for recreational needs, programs and policies for the county

Authority: - NCGS 160A-350 et seq. “Recreation Enabling Law”

Membership: 9 member board appointed from the community at large by the Board of Commissioners. Members serve a 3-year term (staggered), 2- term limit (after any partial term is complete, or extended if a waiver of the 2-term limit has been granted); terms expire in January. The chairman is appointed annually by the Board of Commissioners.

Meetings: The Recreation Advisory Board meets at 5:30 pm on the second Tuesday of each month in the Transylvania Activity Center.
