TRANSYLVANIA NATURAL RESOURCES COUNCIL

 

 

 

 

Purpose:               Advisory to the Board of Commissioners; studies, reviews and inventories Transylvania County’s natural resources and recommends to the BOC county policies, procedures, ordinances and changes to general statutes to responsibly manage the county’s natural resources and promote the environment; promotes education and understanding of county’s natural resources

 

 

Authority:              -  Created on March 22, 2004 by the Board of Commissioners

Membership:        15 member board appointed by the Board of Commissioners.  Members serve a 3-year term (staggered), 2- term limit (after any partial term is complete, or extended if a waiver of the 2-term limit has been granted); terms expire in September.  The chairman is appointed annually by the Board of Commissioners.  Orientation and annual training sessions are held in January.
