2010/2011 Annual Report

Transylvania County is committed to service excellence in the programs we administer.  Below are statistics and facts regarding our services for state fiscal year 2010/2011, which began in July 1, 2010 and ended June 30, 2011. Unless otherwise stated (point in time statistics), all figures reflect the entire service year.
 

,80 ü 4,765 individuals or households were receiving Medicaid assistance as of June 30, 2011. 

ü 11,048 medically necessary one-way trips were arranged or provided for through the Medicaid Transportation Program.

ü    ü 2,481 households were receiving Food and Nutrition Services as of June 30, 2011. This reflects a 22% increase over
      the previous year.

ü      ü  54 families were receiving Work First cash assistance on June 30, 2011, with 128 recipients involved in employment
     services over the course of the year.

65  ü Through Child Support Enforcement, Transylvania County served 885 children and collected in excess of $1,600,000
     for their benefit. 

ü    ü 1,355 citizens were assessed and $258,641.96 in Emergency Crisis Assistance Funds were distributed

ü  $972,203 dollars of child care subsidy was provided to benefit 317 children. The primary purpose of child care subsidy
      is to support parents' employment.

ü  19 adults  were able to attend Adult Day Health or Adult Care Center as recipients of the State Adult Day Care
      Program.  

ü  63 adults were assessed for abuse, neglect or exploitation by caretakers

ü  DSS served as legal guardian for 12 adults

ü  18 adults were able to remain in their homes as an alternative to long term care through the Special Assistance
     
In-Home program.

ü  316 reports of potential child abuse / neglect were assessed.

ü  189 children were found to have been abused or neglected.

ü  21 children were served through the foster care program.

ü  5 children formerly in DSS custody obtained a permanent home through adoption, while 10 children in foster care
     were able to successfully return to a parent or caretaker.

81 adoptive families were assisted with the receipt of state and federal adoption assistance funds.
