The primary purpose
of the Animal Services program is
the control of rabies.

ENFORCEMENT OF STATE AND
LOCAL ORDINANCES IS PROVIDED
THROUGH:
- Operation of the
county animal shelter;
- Humane disposition
of diseased and unwanted
animals;
- Development of a
rabies control program in
cooperation with veterinarians;
- Investigation of
cruelty and nuisance complaints
and
- Educational
presentations about pet care and
control.
SPECIFIC SERVICES
- Picking up stray and
unwanted animals;
- Confinement of biting
animals, as required by law;
- Investigation of cruelty and
nuisance complaints;
- Educational presentations
about proper pet care and
animal control ordinances, local
media releases and
announcements;
- Conducting annual reduced
cost clinics for rabies
vaccination;
- Removal of dead animals from
city streets;
- Routine patrolling of the
community for violations.
