Effective at 5pm. Wednesday, November 22nd, 2023 the NC Department of Agriculture and the Transylvania County Fire Marshal’s Office has rescinded / lifted the Burn Ban that was placed in effect on 11/06/2023. Open burning is allowed and includes burning leaves, branches, vegetation materials, recreational campfires, bonfires, and outdoor fireplaces.
 

Please obtain a Burn Permit from a NC Forest Service Permit Agent, or to obtain a burn permit online please visit: https://www.ncforestservice.gov/burn_permits/burn_permits_main.htm
 

Any open burning must be constantly monitored and never left unattended. In all cases, it is illegal to burn trash, lumber, tires, plastics, and non-vegetative materials.
