BREVARD, NC – After a comprehensive search, Meagan O’Neal of Cameron, North Carolina has been selected as the Finance Director for Transylvania County.

O’Neal comes with many years of professional experience serving in a variety of finance and accounting roles in cities and counties in North Carolina and previously worked for the Albemarle Commission – Northeastern Workforce Development Board in Hertford, NC. Most recently Meagan has served as the Financial Systems Administrator for Chatham County.

Meagan discovered her love for Finance at Central Carolina Community College and continued her pursuits of Finance and Accounting at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke where she completed her Bachelors.

“Meagan is going to be a valuable team member in her mission critical role as finance director for Transylvania County government. Her experience and education are exactly what we need in that position and getting to know her in the recruitment process showed that she is a great fit as a person for our organization and our community. Our staff and board welcome her and her family to Transylvania County and look forward to all we will accomplish together.” said Jaime Laughter, County Manager.

“We have always been drawn to the mountains of North Carolina and fell in love with the small town feel visiting Transylvania County several years ago. With multiple generations of my family choosing careers in public service, it will be an exciting opportunity to continue my career with such a family-oriented group while serving the public that makes it a thriving and welcoming county.” said O’Neal.

Meagan is married to husband Jason who also has a career in public service. They have two daughters who are very excited to attend Transylvania County Schools and take advantage of all that Parks & Recreation has to offer, especially soccer and softball.

She will begin on October 9th and will jump directly into the audit process, as well as planning for the upcoming fiscal year.
