Transylvania County Transportation has received notice that Brevard City Cab will be ceasing operations effective September 30, 2025. Brevard City Cab has operated as a sub-contractor and trusted partner of Transylvania County’s Transylvania in Motion transit service since 2009 to help reach customers in the outlying areas of the County, and for trips out of county in Buncombe and Henderson Counties. Brevard City Cab has helped the County serve over 2,000 trips annually to these areas outside the reach and resources of Transylvania County Transportation.
The Brevard City Cab loss will require Transylvania in Motion to seek another transportation partner to help reach these outlying areas of the county and our neighboring counties. As of October 1, some customers who rely on Brevard City Cab services through TIM will see service interruption until other solutions can be identified. Transylvania County Transportation does not currently have the resources to provide transportation to Buncombe and Henderson County and those in outlying areas of the county and will be contacting those impacted directly.
Transylvania in Motion currently serves over twenty thousand trips per year and County Commissioners have invested in transit services to meet as many needs as possible in the community. While we look for solutions to this latest change, customers should anticipate an increased demand for existing services. Please be patient with our operators and drivers as they do their very best to meet this increase in demand. Transylvania County Transportation has begun exploring alternatives and hopes to have a new partner to help serve the Transylvania community as soon as possible with the resources that we have available.
