N.C.G.S. § 160A-280 allows a county government to donate to another governmental unit or nonprofit entity any personal property that the governing board deems to be surplus, obsolete, or unused, following the posting of a public notice for at least five days prior to the adoption of a resolution approving the donation.

The Transylvania County Board of Commissioners intends to donate audio-visual equipment that has been decommissioned following an audio-visual system upgrade and is currently in the possession of the Transylvania County Information Technology Department to the Transylvania County School System. The equipment is no longer needed for County operations and will be repurposed by the School System for various audio-visual needs. The Board of Commissioners intends to approve the donation by resolution at its meeting on September 28, 2026.
