Notice is hereby given that the Transylvania County Board of Commissioners will conduct a public hearing on a request for a variance from the Transylvania County Telecommunications Tower Ordinance.
On August 20, 2026, the Planning Board reviewed Duke Energy’s application to construct a new telecommunications tower on Old Hendersonville Highway in Pisgah Forest (Parcel ID 9506-09-8289-000). Because the proposed tower exceeds the ordinance’s current height requirements, the application requires a variance. The Planning Board recommended that the Board of Commissioners approve the variance to improve emergency services communications.
Copies of the Telecommunications Tower application are available weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Planning and Community Development Office, 106 E. Morgan Street, Suite 207, Brevard.
The public hearing will be held during the regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners on Monday, September 28, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. in the Multipurpose Chambers, Transylvania County Administration Building, 101 S. Broad Street, Brevard.
For more information about the public hearing, contact the Clerk to the Board at (828) 884-1936. For questions about the proposed tower, contact the Planning and Community Development Office at (828) 884-3205.
