N.C.G.S. § 160A-280 allows a county to donate to a nonprofit organization any personal property that the governing body deems to be surplus, obsolete or unused, following the posting of a public notice for at least five days prior to the adoption of a resolution approving the donation.

The Transylvania County Board of Commissioners intends to donate an oak display table from the Register of Deeds Office that the County Manager has declared surplus to the Veterans History Museum of the Carolinas. The Board of Commissioners will approve the donation through adoption of a resolution at its next regular meeting on December 8, 2025.
