TRANSYLVANIA COUNTY PUBLIC MEETING
Thursday, November 10, 2022, 6:00 p.m.


In accordance with Rule .1618(c)(6) of Title 15A Subchapter 13B of the North Carolina Solid Waste Management Regulations, Transylvania County Solid Waste Department, will hold a public meeting at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 10, 2022, at the Transylvania County Commissioners’ Chambers situated in the Transylvania County Administration Building located at 101 South Broad Street, Brevard, NC 28712.
The meeting is being conducted to discuss Transylvania County’s intent to expand the existing Woodruff Landfill, operating under North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (NCDEQ) Solid Waste Permit No. 88-07, located in southwest Rosman to better handle the present and future waste needs of Transylvania County residents and businesses. The purpose of this public meeting is to seek comments from Transylvania County residents regarding the plans for the landfill expansion (proposed Phase 7 Expansion) and operation, to identify any issues of concern, to facilitate communication, and to establish dialogue between Transylvania County and Transylvania County residents.

Written comments will be accepted and may be sent to Transylvania County Solid Waste Department, care of Kenn Webb, 500 Howell Road, Brevard, NC 28712. Copies of the proposed facility plan will be available for public review at Transylvania County Landfill 500 Howell Road, Brevard, NC 28712 as well as Transylvania County Library 212 South Gaston Street Brevard, NC 28712. The proposed Phase 7 Expansion of the Woodruff Landfill will continue to serve the same geographic area as the existing landfill (i.e., only residents and businesses located within Transylvania County). Access to the facility will continue to be from Howell Road off of Old Toxaway Road as well as Highway 64 via Woodruff Landfill Road.
